"DON'T TELEPHONE FOR A WHILE. EXPLAIN LATER. ALL MY LOVE, DARLING. CAROL."
Welcome to my Carrd! My pseudonyms are AlovVera and Readyoregg, and I'll be sharing here proud works of writing I've produced as a hobby. Feel free to take a look at the buttons below for different categories of my writing experience. Most listed will be creative writing projects I've taken upon myself to create. Enjoy!

"Is It Time To Wake Up Yet" is a personal creative writing story I've begun to write after years of building upon the plot in my mind. This book is a passion project, something I do in my free time. I hope to post it simply to have something out there showcasing my writing potential.
Oasis White has a rocky relationship with her boyfriend of two years, DeAndre Carson. Through arguments, tears, and name-calling, they both struggle to even remember the positives that brought them together in the first place. The final straw is torn when they both attend a friend's house party and DeAndre disappears when she needs him most. What makes matters worse is when Oasis learns he took part in what happened.
In her worst moments, Oasis is cared for by those closest to her: Her childhood best friend Jaiden, and her not-so-healthy dependency on Luciana. While trying to help alleviate Oasis of the symptoms she suffers from after the night that permanently changed her, the two take vastly different approaches to catching the spiraling Oasis. Attempting to prevent what she's becoming, both women find themselves torn from self-interest and detachment. What happens when the line blurs between helping others, and helping yourself?
This story went through many reiterations in my head. Many chapters were left unfinished or never posted, although I enjoyed the effort I had put into it. My favorite chapter regarded Jaiden's history with Oasis thus far. My favorite part of most books is to resist the idea of a 'hero' and a 'villain'. I enjoy the morally grey, the actions you can defend the reason albeit not the right method of handling the situation. People are not robotic when it comes to emotion. Everyone will one day break no matter how much they care for another. Carrying your weight is enough already, and the weight of someone else could crush you. Oasis is undergoing her recovery, but everyone has their limit-- even her friends. That's the moral of the story, after all.
I took it upon myself to visit the library for their meetings where they allowed creative papers to be brought in for critique. Many critiques I had for the first two chapters were exactly what I had planned for, questions that were soon-to-be answered in the next chapter even before I had shown this one off. Some critiques did get to my head, and I wish I could look at my writing without craving to polish and rework it all. Sadly (or maybe, thankfully?) the only solution is to write new projects and grow better over practice. Creative writing is not to be seen with detrimental eyes when critiqued; the work is meant to be published and a better attempt to do better on the next publication is encouraged.

| Created by the outstanding Patricia Highsmith, this book (and Movie "Carol") are amazing writing put into profound words. The book creates a home-like yet just as distraught life between Therese Belivet and Carol Aird. Two women exploring lesbian attraction during a time when heteronormality was pressured onto all. A book of joy as much as sorrow, Carol finds herself in the midst of a threatened divorce and custory order on her child, while Therese wants nothing more than to be chosen first. |
